IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a new hotel development in Jim Corbett, Uttarakhand, as the international hospitality group continues to expand its presence beyond India's major metropolitan markets. The company has signed an agreement with United Hospitality Management (UHM) India to develop and manage Garner Hotel Jim Corbett, a 50-room property scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2027. The hotel will be owned by the Victorian Corporation.
The property will be located in Ramnagar, which serves as a gateway to Jim Corbett National Park. The region attracts visitors throughout the year because of its wildlife tourism and leisure appeal, as well as its road connections with major cities in northern India.
Spread across approximately three acres, the hotel is being planned around the requirements of travellers seeking comfortable and dependable accommodation. Its facilities will include 50 rooms along with amenities designed to provide convenience while retaining a connection with the character of the destination.
Garner is IHG's midscale hotel brand and is positioned around essential guest requirements such as convenient locations, comfortable rooms, quality sleep and breakfast. The brand also operates within IHG's wider technology, distribution and loyalty ecosystem. The Jim Corbett signing marks Garner's sixth signing in India. Globally, the brand has reached 100 operating hotels since its launch in 2023.
The project also reflects a broader shift in hotel development towards leisure destinations and emerging markets. Instead of concentrating only on large urban centres, hotel companies are increasingly adding branded accommodation in locations supported by domestic tourism and changing travel patterns.
UHM India will manage the property and contribute its local hospitality and operational expertise, while IHG will provide its international brand platform and systems.
With this addition, IHG is continuing its expansion across India, where the company currently operates 53 hotels and has a pipeline of 110 additional properties planned to open over the next three to five years.
