UCB’s IL-17 inhibitor Bimzelx has demonstrated superiority over AbbVie’s Skyrizi in a Phase III study for Psoriatic Arthritis.
At 16 weeks, Bimzelx met the primary endpoint by achieving higher ACR50 response rates, indicating improved joint disease control compared to Skyrizi. The study included both biologic-naïve patients and those with inadequate response to TNF inhibitors. Safety results were consistent, with no new concerns identified.
Despite strong efficacy, analysts believe the findings may not significantly boost Bimzelx’s market uptake, as it is already widely used in PsA patients. The drug remains UCB’s top-selling asset, with expanding indications across immunological diseases.
While this head-to-head success strengthens Bimzelx’s clinical profile, its commercial impact may be limited in an already competitive and well-established treatment landscape.
