Immutep has discontinued its Phase III TACTI-004 trial evaluating eftilagimod alfa (efti) with Keytruda in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. The decision followed a recommendation from an independent monitoring committee, which concluded the study was unlikely to meet its primary endpoints of overall survival and progression-free survival.
The trial will be wound down, with no new patient enrolment and completion of follow-up activities. Despite earlier encouraging data, including a 34% response rate in a Phase II head and neck cancer study, efti has shown mixed results across indications.
Immutep plans a comprehensive data review to determine next steps while continuing to explore efti in other solid tumours. However, the setback significantly impacted investor confidence, with the company’s stock dropping sharply.
Analysts view the outcome as a setback but believe efti may still hold potential in more targeted cancer indications.
