Cinnamon recalled due to high lead content
SLR Food Distribution of Hicksville, NY is recalling Wise Wife brand Ground Cinnamon over concerns of elevated lead contamination. The 1.76-ounce (50g) jars with black lids (UPC 0 688474 302853) were distributed to retailers in NJ, NY, FL, MD, MN, OK, and OH between February 15, 2024, and June 28, 2025.
The FDA identified the product’s elevated lead levels during routine analysis. While the last shipments were in June 2025, the long shelf life means consumers may still have the product at home. Even low-level lead exposure may be symptomless but can raise blood lead levels. Prolonged exposure, particularly in children, can cause developmental and learning disorders. Adults may face kidney, cardiovascular, and neurological effects from chronic lead exposure.
