Company recalls pumpkin seeds in Canada due to Salmonella contamination

Advantage Health Matters has issued a recall of its Organic Traditions brand jumbo pumpkin seeds in Canada due to potential Salmonella contamination. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) linked the recall to an alert from another country but did not specify which one. The affected seeds were distributed nationwide and have not been linked to any confirmed illnesses so far. Due to their long shelf life, consumers may still have these products at home. Recalled packages include the 227g size with UPC 6 27733 00175 5 and codes L250212160 or L250319170, and the 454g size with UPC 6 27733 00180 9 and code L250319171. Consumers are advised not to consume the seeds and to dispose of them safely. Salmonella infections can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours, especially impacting vulnerable populations such as the elderly, young children, and those with weakened immune systems. Medical care should be sought if symptoms appear.
