The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has issued a warning to discard Byers Organic Dairy raw milk purchased between July 8 and July 10, 2025, with sell-by dates of July 22 and 23, due to contamination with Shigatoxin-producing E. coli. The milk, sold in half-gallon and gallon containers at the farm’s store in Mercersburg, Franklin County, tested positive during routine sampling. Though no illnesses have been reported as of July 11, customers who consumed the milk should monitor for symptoms.
Anyone showing signs of E. coli or HUS should seek immediate medical attention and inform healthcare providers of potential exposure. The contaminated product has been pulled from shelves, but customer tracking is unavailable.
