Egg Recall Issued Amid Salmonella Outbreak in 7 States

A nationwide egg recall is underway after a Salmonella outbreak linked to August Egg Company sickened 79 people across seven states, according to the CDC. Most cases were reported in California, with others in Arizona, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Jersey, Nevada, and Washington. Some cases involved recent travel to California or Nevada.

Investigations revealed that 90% of interviewed patients consumed eggs before falling ill. Two restaurant clusters further pointed to eggs as the source. Genetic testing confirmed the Salmonella strains in patients closely match those found in eggs from August Egg Company.

The FDA's inspection found contaminated samples at the company’s facility, confirming the link. Eggs were traced back to August Egg Company from various stores and restaurants. No deaths have been reported.
