FDA Expands Warning on Frozen Oysters Linked to Norovirus Outbreak

The FDA has expanded its warning against serving, selling, or consuming certain frozen half-shell oysters from South Korea’s Designated Area II, linked to a norovirus outbreak in California.

Recall Details:

  • Brand: Sea Win
  • Product: Frozen Half-Shell Oysters (KR 7 SP)
  • Packaging: 144-count white corrugated boxes with shellfish tags
  • Expanded Harvest Dates: Jan. 30, Jan. 31, Feb. 1, Feb. 2, and Feb. 4, 2024
  • Distributor: Sea Win, Inc. (Los Angeles, CA)

The oysters were distributed to wholesalers in Los Angeles and Irvine, CA, and possibly other states. Norovirus symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach cramps.

The FDA advises disposal of affected oysters and urges those with symptoms to seek medical care. Restaurants should sanitize surfaces and report concerns to the FDA’s Human Food Program. Sea Win is offering refunds.
