FDA Expands Warning on Supplements Containing Toxic Yellow Oleander

The Food and Drug Administration has added another product to its growing warning list of supplements found to contain Yellow Oleander, bringing the total to more than two dozen flagged items. Laboratory testing confirmed the presence of this poisonous plant, which can cause serious neurological, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular effects, and may even be fatal.

Many of these products are marketed as containing tejocote root (Crataegus mexicana) or Brazil seed, but have instead been found to include yellow oleander. They are widely available through online platforms such as Amazon, eBay, and Etsy.

While some companies have initiated recalls, others have not, raising concerns that consumers may still have these products at home. The FDA advises immediate discontinuation and disposal of such supplements and recommends seeking medical advice if exposure is suspected.
