Freedom Sunflower Oil Launches ‘Coaching the Coach’ to Promote Honest Packaging

Freedom Sunflower Oil has introduced its new campaign, Coaching the Coach, featuring cricket icon Rahul Dravid to promote consumer awareness about accurate pack quantities. Drawing a parallel between cricket’s Decision Review System (DRS) and the brand’s Pack Review System (PRS), the initiative urges shoppers to check the net weight of edible oil pouches instead of relying on appearance.

As per Ministry of Consumer Affairs guidelines, a 1-litre oil pouch must contain 910 grams of oil, with a typical gross weight of around 918 grams. However, several brands sell packs with only 800–870 grams, causing consumers to pay for more than they receive. Dravid highlights the importance of flipping the pouch and verifying the printed quantity—much like taking a review in cricket.

Freedom Sunflower Oil reiterates that its packs always meet the mandated 910-gram standard and undergo 101 quality checks. The campaign aims to protect consumers from misleading packaging and promote informed purchasing.
