FSIS Issues Public Health Alert for Imported Trader Joe’s Pepperoni Pizza

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for a frozen, not-ready-to-eat uncured pepperoni pizza imported from Italy that bypassed mandatory import reinspection. While a recall was not requested—since the product is no longer in stores—FSIS warns that consumers may still have it in their freezers.

The alert covers 17.63-oz. boxes of “Trader Joe’s Uncured Pepperoni Pizza Product of Italy” with lot codes “MFG LOT: 06/16/25 BEST BY: 08/16/26” or “MFG LOT: 06/21/25 BEST BY: 08/21/26.” The packages display establishment number “IT 1558 L UE” inside the Italian inspection mark. Products were shipped to retail stores in California.

No illnesses have been reported, but FSIS advises consumers not to eat the product. Affected items should be discarded or returned to the point of purchase.
