The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has initiated enforcement action against CG Foods India Pvt Ltd following an inspection of the company's manufacturing facility at Roopangarh in Ajmer, Rajasthan.
The inspection was conducted to assess compliance with food-safety, manufacturing and hygiene requirements. According to the regulator, officials found broken noodles collected from the floor being reprocessed for use in bhujia products without heat treatment. The findings raised concerns over processing practices and the controls required to prevent contamination during food production.
FSSAI also reported that bhujia variants were being manufactured without the required licence. Another significant observation involved the alleged use of predated packaging. Authorities further detained 1,925 boxes of expired finished products and initiated legal proceedings against the food business operator.
Subsequent reports said the regulator directed the company to stop production of Veg Bhujia Namkeen products without the necessary approvals and corrective measures. More than 32,000 kg of stock, including loose broken noodles, was also seized during the regulatory action, with samples intended for laboratory examination.
The case provides a useful example of why Good Manufacturing Practices are fundamental to food production. Raw-material and product handling, hygienic processing, prevention of contamination, reprocessing controls, accurate date marking, storage practices and proper licensing all form important parts of an effective food-safety system.
Manufacturers must establish controls that ensure every stage of production, reprocessing, packaging and storage protects product safety and maintains regulatory compliance.
