Giant Eagle has recalled its Smoked Mozzarella Pasta Salad sold in prepared food sections after supplier Nate’s Fine Foods was linked to a deadly Listeria outbreak. The recalled salads, with expiration dates between Sept. 30 and Oct. 7, 2025, were distributed across Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Indiana. Affected UPCs include 256616000000, 246511000000, and 24651200000. The outbreak has sickened 20 people in 15 states, resulting in four deaths and one fetal loss. Several other brands have also recalled pasta products connected to Nate’s Fine Foods, including Trader Joe’s, Albertsons, Marketside, and Home Chef. Consumers are urged not to eat the recalled items and to seek medical care if they develop symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting, or muscle aches. Since Listeria infections can appear up to 70 days after exposure, individuals who consumed the products should monitor their health and inform doctors of possible exposure.
