The Government of India is rolling out a series of nationwide workshops for edible oil manufacturers, refiners, and traders to support the smooth adoption of newly introduced regulatory norms. The initiative aims to boost transparency, improve product quality, and enhance consumer trust in this essential food sector.
Organised by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs in partnership with FSSAI and state food departments, the workshops will guide industry stakeholders on compliance with the updated Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations and Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules.
Key requirements include clearer labelling of blended oils, precise disclosure of compositions, and improved traceability to curb adulteration and promote fair trade. Officials said the sessions will help bridge regulatory gaps through awareness rather than strict enforcement.
Industry participants have welcomed the initiative, noting it will bring clarity and consistency across brands. Workshops will be conducted in major refining hubs to ensure smooth nationwide implementation.
