Ground Beef Recalled in Canada Over E. coli Contamination

Ground beef sold at Pistachios – Quality Meats & Groceries stores in Ontario has been recalled after testing confirmed contamination with E. coli O157. The affected products were sold without a specific brand name, and consumers are urged to check their freezers for any recalled items.

Health officials advise anyone who has eaten the recalled beef and developed symptoms such as severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea, or fever to seek medical attention immediately. E. coli infections can lead to serious complications, including hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a potentially life-threatening kidney condition.

While most people recover within a week, HUS poses higher risks to children under five, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.
