Hormel Recalls 256,000+ Pounds of Canned Beef Stew for Wood Contamination

Hormel Foods Corporation is recalling 256,185 pounds of Dinty Moore canned beef stew due to potential contamination with wood fragments, the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The affected product includes 20-ounce cans labeled Dinty Moore BEEF STEW” with a “BEST BY FEB 2028 date and lot code T02045 (may include an extra number), along with establishment number EST 199G.

The beef stew was produced on February 4, 2025, and distributed nationwide. The issue surfaced after three consumer complaints reported wood pieces in the product.

Though no injuries have been confirmed, FSIS warns consumers to check their pantries and not to eat the productIt should be discarded or returned to the store.
