Moonlight Companies has announced a recall of California-grown conventional yellow and white peaches due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The contamination was detected during environmental testing at the company’s packing facility.
The recalled peaches were sold nationwide between September 16 and October 29, both as individual fruits with PLU stickers and in multi-pack bags. Peaches labeled “Washington” and/or “Organic” are not part of the recall. No illnesses have been reported so far. Consumers with questions can contact Moonlight Companies at 855-215-5017.
Health officials warn that Listeria-contaminated food may appear normal but can cause serious or life-threatening illness, particularly in pregnant women, older adults, young children, and immunocompromised individuals. Symptoms may include fever, nausea, muscle aches, and headache. Because Listeria infections can take up to 70 days to appear, anyone who consumed the recalled peaches should monitor for symptoms and seek medical attention if illness develops.
