Neuhaus Chocolates Recalls Smurfs ‘Popping Milk Chocolates with Cookies’ for Undeclared Wheat

Neuhaus Chocolates NV, based in Vlezenbeek, Belgium, is recalling its Belgian Chocolate Moments Smurfs “Popping Milk Chocolates with Cookies” due to the presence of undeclared wheat (gluten). Individuals with wheat allergies or gluten sensitivity could face serious or potentially life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.

The chocolates were distributed between July 21 and August 4, 2025, through Neuhaus stores in New York, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., and via the Neuhaus webshop. Affected products include batch number 80108690 and batch number 80108763, both with a best before date of Jan. 13, 2026.

No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date. The recall was initiated after an internal review revealed a packaging error that failed to list wheat as an ingredient.

Consumers with allergies are urged not to consume the chocolates and to return them to the place of purchase.
