Old Country Creamery Recalls Chocolate Milk Due to Improper Pasteurization
Old Country Creamery in Middlefield, OH, is recalling its chocolate milk after the Ohio Department of Agriculture discovered improper pasteurization. The recall includes all pint, quart, half-gallon, and gallon sizes with expiration dates of 04/06/25 and 04/13/25, distributed to 15 stores within 25 miles of Middlefield.
No illnesses have been reported, but consumers are advised to return the milk for a refund and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, or stomach cramps.
Improperly pasteurized milk poses a higher risk of foodborne illnesses, especially for children, the elderly, pregnant women, and immunocompromised individuals.
The CDC warns against drinking raw or improperly pasteurized milk due to bacteria such as E. coli, Listeria, and Salmonella. Consumers are urged to choose pasteurized products and store perishables at or below 40°F to reduce risk.
