Paleteria La Providencia Recalls Ice Cream Popsicles Over Listeria Risk

Paleteria La Providencia, based in Smyrna, Georgia, is recalling several paleta (popsicle) products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The affected flavors and date codes include:

  • Coconut (6/17/25)
  • Cookies and Cream (6/17/25)
  • Coffee (6/11/25)

The products were likely sold through Atlanta-area convenience stores and mobile frozen dessert carts. The recall was initiated after routine testing detected Listeria species in finished products. Due to incomplete distribution records, the Georgia Department of Agriculture is working with the company to identify impacted retailers.

Consumers who may have purchased these popsicles are advised to discard them immediately and monitor for symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, or headaches—especially pregnant individuals, seniors, young children, and immunocompromised persons, who face greater risk of serious illness.

Anyone experiencing symptoms after consuming the recalled items should seek medical attention and report potential exposure to their healthcare provider.
