Four varieties of Pillsbury Pizza Pops have been recalled in Canada after being linked to contamination with E. coli, according to food safety authorities. The recalled products are connected to an ongoing outbreak of E. coli infections, though detailed outbreak information had not yet been released by the Public Health Agency of Canada at the time of the notice.
The affected products include Pizza Pops Pepperoni + Bacon, Pizza Pops Supremo Extreme Pepperoni + Bacon, Pizza Pops FRANK’s RedHot Pepperoni + Bacon, and another Pepperoni + Bacon variety. These items were distributed nationwide. Consumers are urged to check product labels and avoid eating the recalled items.
Anyone who has consumed the products and developed symptoms such as severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody), or fever should seek medical care. In some cases, E. coli infection can lead to hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious kidney condition requiring urgent treatment, particularly in young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.
