Prairie Farms Recalls Fat-Free Milk Over Cleaning Agent Contamination

Prairie Farms has issued a recall for select gallon-sized Fat Free Milk produced at its Dubuque, IA facility after discovering that some units may contain food-grade cleaning agents. The contamination affects only a portion of the DEC08 production run, specifically products processed between 17:51 and 21:23, and distributed to Woodman’s stores in Illinois and Wisconsin.

The company identified the issue on Nov. 24 and immediately launched an investigation. Approximately 320 gallons were sold before the problem was detected. All remaining affected products have since been removed from store shelves.

Consumers who purchased the recalled milk should not drink it. The product can be safely discarded or returned to the store for a refund.
