Prairie Farms has issued a recall for select gallon-sized Fat Free Milk produced at its Dubuque, Iowa facility and supplied to Woodman’s stores in Illinois and Wisconsin. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that a portion of the DEC08 production run may contain food-grade cleaning agents, which could cause illness if consumed. The affected batch was processed between 17:51 and 21:23, representing only part of that day’s output.
The company learned of a potential quality issue on November 24 and immediately launched an investigation. Based on the findings, all impacted products were removed from store shelves, although approximately 320 gallons had already been sold. Consumers who purchased milk with the DEC08 date and plant code PLT19-145 are advised not to drink it. They may safely discard the product or return it to the store for a refund. All remaining affected units have been fully withdrawn.
