Salmonella Recall: Sweet Cream and D. Effe T. Frozen Pastries

Frozen pastries from Sweet Cream and D. Effe T. brands are being recalled in Canada due to Salmonella contamination. One illness has been reported in Canada. Affected products include mini and large varieties of lobster tail and chocolate pastries, distributed in Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and possibly other regions.

Many items may have been sold clerk-served or repackaged without labels, making identification difficult.

Earlier outbreaks linked to Sweet Cream pastries caused 18 U.S. illnesses (1 hospitalization) and 69 in Canada (22 hospitalizations). The pastries, made in Italy and imported via Quebec, tested positive for the outbreak strain of Salmonella.

The U.S. FDA has placed Sweet Cream S.R.L.S. on its Red List, blocking future imports of these products.

Consumers should not consume the recalled items and should discard or return them.
