Sprout Organics Recalls Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach Pouches Due to Elevated Lead

Sprout Organics has issued a recall for its Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach 3.5-ounce pouches after routine testing detected elevated lead levels. The affected products, lot code 4212 with an expiration date of October 10, 2024, were sold primarily at Walgreens and select independent stores in the Southern United States between September and December 2024. No other Sprout Organics products are affected, and no illnesses have been reported.

Consumers who have the recalled product should return it to the store for a full refund. The lot code and expiration date are located on the bottom strip of the pouch’s back.

Lead is toxic, and chronic exposure—especially in infants, young children, and pregnant women—can cause developmental delays, learning difficulties, and reduced IQ, often without obvious symptoms.
