Texas Company Recalls Cucumbers Over Salmonella Risk

Fuentes Farms LLC of McAllen, TX, is recalling fresh cucumbers after routine testing detected Salmonella contamination, per the FDA. The recalled 40-pound boxes, labeled "Fuentes Farm" with lot number 357, were sold by local vendors in flea markets around McAllen and Alamo between May 31 and June 3.

Though no illnesses have been reported, consumers are urged to discard or return the product. Production and distribution have been halted as investigations continue.

The boxes feature a black background with red vegetable lettering. Salmonella infections can cause serious illness, especially in infants, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems. The bacteria may be present even if the food appears normal.
