The USDA has issued a public health alert for Marketside brand Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce sold at Walmart stores nationwide due to a potential link to a deadly Listeria outbreak. Samples of the pre-cooked pasta used in the product tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes during an FDA investigation of chicken fettuccine alfredo meals sold at Walmart and Kroger.
As of September 25, 20 people across 15 states have been infected with the outbreak strain; 19 were hospitalized, four deaths occurred, and one pregnant woman experienced a fetal loss. The affected 12-oz. trays carry “best if used by” dates from September 22 to October 1, 2025, and establishment numbers EST. 50784 or EST. 47718.
Consumers are urged not to eat the product and to discard it or return it to the store. FSIS continues to coordinate with the FDA and CDC, and updates will be provided as the investigation progresses. Questions can be directed to Nate’s Fine Foods at 916-677-7303.
