On World Brain Day 2025, NIMHANS reaffirmed its commitment to brain health across all ages through the Karnataka Brain Health Initiative (KaBHI). This year’s theme—Brain Health for All Ages—highlights the importance of neurological well-being from infancy to old age, particularly in India, where such disorders cause significant disability. In collaboration with the Karnataka government, NIMHANS has trained primary care teams to detect and treat stroke, epilepsy, and headache in district and taluk hospitals. A hub-and-spoke model now links NIMHANS with six medical colleges for coordinated stroke and trauma care. To meet rising demand, NIMHANS is expanding OPD services and building a North Campus in Bengaluru. Disorders like cerebral palsy, migraine, Parkinson’s, and dementia span all life stages and often go undiagnosed. The institute emphasizes preventive steps—controlling hypertension, avoiding substance abuse, and reducing injury risk—along with building supportive, stigma-free environments for patients and caregivers alike.
