Americans Use AI for Health Info, But Trust Remains Low

A recent survey by the Pew Research Center reveals that while artificial intelligence chatbots are increasingly used for health-related queries, trust in their accuracy remains limited. Over 20% of respondents reported using AI tools at least occasionally for health questions, with 7% relying on them frequently.

Despite this growing usage, only 18% of users rated the information as highly accurate. However, many acknowledged the convenience and ease of understanding offered by these tools. Still, traditional sources remain dominant—85% of respondents turn to healthcare providers, while 60% rely on established platforms like WebMD.

Tech companies such as OpenAI, Amazon, and Microsoft are expanding into healthcare AI, aiming to simplify access to medical insights. However, concerns about misinformation persist, especially among occasional users.

Younger adults and uninsured individuals are more likely to use AI tools, reflecting gaps in healthcare access and evolving digital habits.
