Rising Use of AI for Health Information Sparks Both Trust and Concern

A new poll by Kaiser Family Foundation reveals that about one-third of adults in the U.S. have turned to artificial intelligence for health-related information. As companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, and Amazon expand AI-powered health tools, usage continues to grow.

People primarily use AI for quick advice and to research conditions before consulting a doctor. However, access issues—such as lack of providers or difficulty getting appointments—also drive adoption. Nearly 30% of respondents used AI for physical health queries in the past year, while around one in six sought mental health information.

Despite concerns, over 40% of users have shared personal medical data with AI tools. Many users report satisfaction and trust in the information provided, with about 60% expressing confidence in its reliability.

However, skepticism remains high among non-users, and privacy concerns persist, with most adults worried about how their health data is handled.
