Five New Beauty Technologies Highlighted at MakeUp in New York 2026

The 2026 edition of MakeUp in New York brought together companies working across cosmetic ingredients, formulations, packaging and application technologies, with several new developments attracting attention during the event.

Among the innovations showcased was a new all-aluminium luxury cosmetic package developed by Metapack. The company redesigned a lip-wax case using aluminium instead of the traditionally used zamak material. The redesigned pack weighs about 43 grams when empty and uses several formed and stamped aluminium components.

Tokiwa Cosmetics International presented its Micro-Groove Mascara technology. The applicator has been designed to reduce excessive accumulation of mascara at the tip of the brush, allowing the formulation to spread more evenly across the lashes. The formulation itself incorporates recycled apple fibres.

Another development came from Nuon Medical in the form of the Moisture Balance Skin Analyzer. The compact device uses a digital display to provide an immediate assessment of skin hydration through a simple touch measurement. The technology is intended to support personalised skincare recommendations.

Packaging company CTK introduced its Dropper Jar, which combines two dispensing approaches in a single container. A pump provides controlled dispensing, while a wider jar section allows users to access the formulation directly when required. The design is intended particularly for products with richer textures.

Colep Consumer Products also presented an aerosol-based approach to blemish care through its Clear Cloud Rescue Spray. The touch-free format is designed for application to areas affected by pores, blackheads and redness. The company states that the formulation contains 89% naturally derived ingredients.

Together, the developments presented at the event demonstrate continuing experimentation with cosmetic packaging, product application, skin assessment and formulation delivery.
