The Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI) has released updated drafts of two guidelines in its VDI 2083 series—Sheet 4.1 and Sheet 4.2—for public comment, open until 31 December 2025.
VDI 2083 Sheet 4.1, last revised in 2006, now expands to 70 pages and outlines the planning, construction, and initial commissioning of cleanrooms. It emphasizes cleanroom-specific project life cycles, including user requirement analysis, risk assessment, planning phases, personnel training, and documentation standards.
VDI 2083 Sheet 4.2, updated from its 2011 version, now spans 47 pages and focuses on energy efficiency in cleanrooms. It provides actionable strategies to reduce energy use across cleanroom environments and their associated HVAC systems. The guideline applies to sectors like electronics, aerospace, nuclear, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, hospitals, and food production.
Both drafts are available for purchase via DIN Media, with free access to the table of contents. Stakeholders are encouraged to submit feedback within the comment period.
