Chetak LLC Expands Recall to 61 Frozen Fruit and Vegetable Products Amid Salmonella Outbreak

Chetak LLC Group has broadened its recall to include 61 frozen fruits and vegetables after a Salmonella outbreak linked to its products. The company’s initial recall involved only frozen sprouted mung beans and moth beans, but testing of multiple Deep-brand products prompted an expansion. On Aug. 22, the FDA reported that a sample of Deep-brand Frozen Singoda (Water Chestnut), lot IN25150K, tested positive for Salmonella and was denied U.S. entry.

So far, 11 people across 10 states have been infected, with four requiring hospitalization.

Salmonella infections can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12–72 hours of consumption. Severe cases may lead to hospitalization, particularly in young children, seniors, pregnant women, and immunocompromised individuals.

Consumers who purchased recalled products are urged to avoid eating them and seek medical care if symptoms develop. Proper diagnosis requires notifying healthcare providers about potential Salmonella exposure.
