E. coli Outbreak in Washington Linked to Raw Milk Cheese Recall

Health officials are investigating an outbreak of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) infections linked to aged raw milk cheese produced by Twin Sisters Creamery in Washington. Two residents of Washington and one from Oregon have fallen ill, with symptoms appearing between September 5 and 16, 2025.

Testing confirmed E. coli O103 in both opened and unopened samples of Twin Sisters Creamery Farmhouse cheese, with bacterial fingerprints matching those from infected individuals. The recall covers all sizes of Whatcom Blue, Farmhouse, Peppercorn, and Mustard Seed cheeses made on or after May 27, 2025.

Authorities warn that some products may have been repackaged without original labels. The investigation is ongoing, and further recalls may follow as additional testing continues.
