The FDA is warning consumers, restaurants, and retailers about a recall of certain frozen, raw, half-shell oysters imported from the Republic of Korea due to norovirus contamination. The affected oysters, marked with lot code B250112, were harvested on Jan. 12, 2025 from Designated Area No. 1 and processed by JBR KR-15-SP in Tongyeong-si. They were distributed by Wang Globalnet of Vernon, CA to Arizona, California, Colorado, Montana, and Utah, with possible distribution to additional states.
The recall was issued on July 21, 2025, following a norovirus outbreak in Utah linked to these oysters. Since the products have a best before date of Jan. 2027, some may remain in freezers.
Consumers should not eat these oysters. Restaurants and retailers should stop serving or selling them, dispose of stock, and sanitize equipment to prevent cross-contamination. Symptoms of norovirus include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and muscle aches.
