Haribo Recalls Sweets in Netherlands Due to Suspected Cannabis Contamination

Haribo has announced a recall of its Happy Cola FIZZ (1,000g) in the Netherlands over possible cannabis contamination. The affected batch carries the best-before date January 2026 and code L341-4002307906. The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) reported that some packs may cause symptoms like dizziness after consumption. Dutch media noted that several individuals from the same family felt unwell after eating the product. Although only three bags have been linked to the issue, Haribo issued the recall as a safety precaution. Authorities in Luxembourg have also initiated a recall, citing possible distribution from November 13, 2024, to February 14, 2025. Haribo stated that consumer safety is their top priority and that they are cooperating fully with investigators to determine how the contamination occurred. The company is working closely with the NVWA to support ongoing inquiries into the incident.
