Johnsonville Recalls Cheddar Bratwurst Due to Possible Plastic Contamination

Johnsonville LLC, based in Momence, Illinois, is recalling approximately 22,672 pounds of its cheddar bratwurst products after receiving multiple consumer complaints about hard plastic pieces found in the sausages. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the affected product was produced on February 5 and may still be in consumer freezers. The recall applies to 19-ounce sealed firm tray packages containing five “Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst” sausages with package code B9FOD and the establishment number “Est. 1647” on the label’s front. The product was distributed to retail locations in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Consumers are advised not to eat the bratwurst and to either discard the product or return it to the store where it was purchased. There have been no confirmed reports of injuries, but FSIS urges caution due to the risk of physical harm.
