PMFME scheme boosts over 26,000 micro food units in Maharashtra

Maharashtra’s micro food processing sector has received a significant push under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, with Rs 646.24 crore released by the Central government. This support aims to formalise units, expand capacities, and increase market participation.

Under the scheme, 26,172 micro food enterprises have been sanctioned credit-linked loans with up to 35% subsidy for setting up or modernising facilities. Seed capital assistance has also reached 53,146 Self Help Group members, particularly empowering women entrepreneurs, for working capital and essential tools.

To enhance market access, four proposals for branding and marketing support have been approved, alongside three incubation centres and training for nearly 36,000 beneficiaries. The initiative strengthens rural livelihoods, promotes value addition, and integrates micro food processors into organised supply chains across Maharashtra.
