Public Health Alert Issued for Ham Salad Due to Listeria Risk

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for two ham salad products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The affected items include 12-oz. tubs of “Reser’s Fine Foods Ham Salad” (sell by 09/01/25) and 5-lb. tubs of “Molly’s Kitchen Ham Salad” (sell by 08/31/25).

The contamination risk stems from recalled FDA-regulated breadcrumbs used by Reser’s Fine Foods. No illnesses have been reported so far, but consumers are urged not to consume the products and should dispose of or return them.

Listeria can cause serious illness, particularly in pregnant women, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals. Symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, vomiting, and headaches. It can take up to 70 days for symptoms to appear after exposure. Medical attention is advised for anyone experiencing symptoms after consuming the recalled products.
