Quesito El Establo Recalls Spanish Cheese Over Insanitary Conditions

Quesito El Establo, based in Salem, NH, is recalling all Spanish Cheese (Quesito Colombiano) manufactured at its facility after an FDA inspection uncovered evidence of rodent activity and insanitary conditions in manufacturing and storage areas. Such conditions pose a potential risk of Salmonella contamination, which can cause illness if consumed.

The recall covers all products stamped with code AUG 22, 2025, or earlier. The cheese was distributed in Hispanic/Latino retail stores in Massachusetts. Each recalled unit weighs about 1 pound, wrapped in plastic and placed in a Ziploc bag. The label features a blue sticker with a cow image and the words “Quesito Colombiano” in yellow, with “Spanish Cheese” and “Quesito El Establo” listed on top.

No illnesses have been reported. Production and distribution have been halted while the investigation continues.
