Sabrositos Hondureños Recalls 32,000 Pounds of Misbranded Meat Products

Sabrositos Hondureños, LLC, based in Edison, NJ, is recalling approximately 32,000 pounds of meat products that were produced without federal inspection and carry a false USDA mark of inspection. The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has warned that any item bearing establishment number “EST. 1785” should be treated as misbranded and unsafe to eat.

The recall includes several 14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of OLANCHO-branded meats such as homestyle chorizo, smoked pork chops, smoked ribs, BBQ spicy chorizo, and smoked chorizo. These products were shipped to retail outlets and restaurants nationwide.

Food produced without federal inspection poses health risks, including undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants. Although no adverse reactions have been reported to date, the FSIS is concerned products may remain in homes or restaurant freezers.
