Around 20 people have been hospitalized in Stockholm, Sweden, following a suspected Listeria outbreak linked to the Coco & Carmen restaurant. Authorities believe infections occurred between September 23 and 27, during which about 450 guests visited the venue. So far, 10 cases have been confirmed, while around 130 people have reported symptoms and sought medical care. The restaurant has voluntarily closed and is cooperating with health officials to identify the source. The Public Health Agency of Sweden and the Swedish Food Agency are jointly investigating the incident. Patients are being monitored, though none require intensive care. Unusually, some otherwise healthy individuals have developed severe illness, including sepsis, said acting state epidemiologist Erik Sturegård. Officials urge anyone who dined at the restaurant and developed symptoms such as fever, nausea, or vomiting to seek medical attention promptly, as Listeria infections can take up to 70 days to appear after exposure.
