Tehina Recalled in Canada Due to Salmonella Risk

Canadian food safety officials have recalled Bornibus brand tehina due to potential Salmonella contamination. The product was sold at The Market Garden, 810 Catherine St., Victoria, BC, in 240g jars with UPC 3592860018907 and code 5013HB 01/2027.

The recall follows a similar action in another country, as reported by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). No illnesses have been reported in Canada so far. The CFIA is continuing its investigation, which may result in additional recalls.

Salmonella-contaminated food often shows no visible signs of spoilage. Symptoms can include diarrhea, cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours of consumption. While most people recover in a week, severe cases may require hospitalization, especially among young children, seniors, and immunocompromised individuals.

Consumers are advised not to consume the product and to return it to the place of purchase.
