Ajinomoto Expands Recall of Frozen Products Over Possible Glass Contamination

Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc. has expanded its recall of frozen chicken products due to possible contamination with glass fragments, according to the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The recall was first announced on February 19 after the company received multiple consumer complaints reporting pieces of glass in the products.

The company determined that a vegetable ingredient—specifically carrots—may be the source of the contamination. As a result, the recall now includes an additional 33.6 million pounds of products, bringing the total affected amount to nearly 37 million pounds.

The expanded recall covers ready-to-eat and not-ready-to-eat chicken and pork items, including fried rice, ramen and shu mai dumplings. Products were sold under brands such as Ajinomoto, Kroger, Ling Ling, Tai Pei and Trader Joe’s.

The recalled items were produced between October 2024 and February 2026 and distributed to retail stores across the United States, with some exports to Canada and Mexico. No injuries have been reported so far.
