Haifa Smoked Fish Recalls Salmon and Seabass for Listeria Risk

Haifa Smoked Fish, based in Jamaica, NY, has issued a nationwide recall of its “Cold Smoked Salmon” (LOT #219) and “Cold Smoked Seabass” (LOT #212) after routine testing by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. Both products, sold in 8-ounce vacuum-sealed packages, were distributed through retailers and distributors across the U.S.

No illnesses have been reported. Consumers are advised to return the recalled fish to the place of purchase for a full refund or contact the company at 718-523-8899 with questions.

Listeria infection can cause severe health complications, particularly for pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, nausea, muscle aches, and headache, appearing days to weeks after exposure. In pregnant women, the infection can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, or newborn complications. Immediate medical attention is recommended for anyone experiencing symptoms.
