Johnvince Raw Pecan Halves Recalled in Canada Due to Salmonella Risk

Les Aliments Johnvince is recalling Johnvince brand raw pecan halves in Canada after testing confirmed contamination with Salmonella. The recall was initiated following analysis conducted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The affected product was distributed in Quebec.

The recalled pecans are sold in 230-gram plastic tubs with UPC 0 55144 52282 6, Lot number 5 839 2, and a best-before date of March 30, 2027. Consumers are urged not to eat the product.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not show any visible signs of spoilage. Infection can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps within 12 to 72 hours of consumption. While most healthy adults recover within several days, severe illness may occur, particularly in young children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.

Anyone experiencing symptoms after consuming the recalled pecans should seek medical attention and inform healthcare providers of possible Salmonella exposure.
