Prime Food Processing Recalls Dried Croaker Fish Over Improper Evisceration

Prime Food Processing LLC has announced a recall of dried croaker fish after determining that the product was not properly eviscerated, a requirement set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Fish that are inadequately eviscerated may retain internal organs, which can allow harmful bacteria or toxins to remain, creating a potential health risk.

The recalled product is sold in plastic packaging with green trim along the top and bottom and carries item number #AF1410. Because the product has a long shelf life, consumers may still have it at home. The expiration date listed on the package is December 28, 2027.

The dried croaker fish was distributed to Asian grocery stores across multiple states, including Alabama, California, Florida, New York, Texas, and Washington, among others. The issue was discovered during routine testing by the New York Department of Agriculture. Further investigation traced the problem to an imported product manufactured in Vietnam. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date.
