A high-level Afghan public health delegation is scheduled to meet representatives of the Indian pharmaceutical industry in December 2025, to explore opportunities for importing Indian medicines, including traditional therapies. The visit aims to familiarise Afghan officials with India’s healthcare and pharmaceutical ecosystem while encouraging Indian companies to consider partnerships within Afghanistan’s public health system.
Discussions are expected to focus on improving healthcare standards in Afghanistan, reducing reliance on substandard imports, and strengthening the technical capabilities of local pharmaceutical facilities. The meeting is being organised by the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil).
The visit follows a November 2025 trade mission led by Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, after which a $100m MoU was signed between Afghanistan’s Raoufi International Group and India’s Zydus Lifesciences. The agreement includes medicine exports and plans for local drug manufacturing in Afghanistan.
