AWS Launches AI-Powered Amazon Connect Health for Patient Care and Clinical Documentation

Amazon Web Services has introduced Amazon Connect Health, a suite of agentic artificial intelligence tools designed to streamline healthcare tasks and improve patient engagement. The platform includes features such as patient identity verification, appointment scheduling, medical history summarization, automated clinical note generation, and medical coding support.

According to AWS, the system aims to reduce administrative burden on healthcare workers while making it easier for patients to access care. The AI agents can help patients book appointments by confirming identity, checking insurance details, reviewing physician availability, and scheduling visits during a phone call.

The platform also supports healthcare providers. It can compile patient medical histories from electronic health records and generate clinical notes from doctor–patient conversations. The system builds on the company’s Amazon HealthScribe tool introduced in 2023.

To ensure safety and accuracy, clinicians must review AI-generated documentation and codes before approval, and the system includes safeguards to verify information sources.
