Engineers Driving India’s Digital Healthcare Revolution

India’s healthcare transformation is increasingly driven by engineers, whose expertise is pivotal in integrating technology with medical systems to create efficient, scalable, and patient-focused solutions. On National Engineers’ Day, industry leaders from Tata Elxsi, Ascendion, and MediBuddy highlighted how engineers are reshaping healthcare with advanced diagnostic tools, wearable sensors, telemedicine systems, and AI-powered clinical decision support.

Bhavesh Shaha of Tata Elxsi emphasized engineers’ role in transitioning healthcare from reactive treatment to proactive, technology-driven care using robotics, digital twins, AI imaging, and cloud platforms. Naveen Krishnamoorthy of Ascendion noted that AI innovations, such as early-stage, non-invasive breast cancer detection, are revolutionizing diagnostics, especially in underserved regions.

MediBuddy’s Enbasekar D stressed the importance of engineering scalable digital frameworks that connect diagnostics, pharmacies, and hospitals, ensuring seamless patient journeys. These innovations, guided by frugal innovation and government initiatives, are making Indian healthcare smarter, safer, and globally competitive.
